ALL ABOUT NLP

So what is this NLP stuff anyway?

It's the question that most NLP'ers get asked at some point in their careers... and interestingly it's one of the most difficult to answer.

Consider what football is.... for some it's a game where you kick a ball about... and for others it's a Saturday afternoon on their own... some people think it's life itself and for others it's a way for a bunch of drunken nutcases to do male bonding.

NLP stands for Neuro Linguistic Programming.

It's a slightly misleading (and very grandiose sounding) name, but basically its an attempt to understand HOW we experience the world, and how to order it in such a way that gives us a better chance of getting what we want.

Einstein's theory of relativity demonstrates that how you "perceive" a thing depends on your relationship to it.

NLP is all about understanding people and their relationships.

And these relationships are not just who we sleep with... it's our relationships with our family, our friends, our colleagues and clients and even our relationship with more intangible things, like our feelings about an idea, a piece of music, a belief or value that someone holds dear or a physical object, like a car or a house.

The essence is this. You can re-write the software in your brain so you could think differently and have a new relationship with a thing.

For example you could programme yourself with a new skill, reduce fear of something or improve your performance in some area of life. JUST LIKE THE MATRIX

It is the art of learning new behaviours and processes which ask to examine whether we are getting closer to or further away from our outcomes...and gives us strategies and methods for programming our brains to change our thought patterns and behaviours to make it easy for ourselves.

NEURO

How our minds work, how they filter information and present ideas and creativity

LINGUISTIC
How we communicate what is in our minds (both verbally AND non-verbally)

PROGRAMMING
The behaviours and strategies that we human beings run, day after day, time after time, often without any conscious thought.

"...Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results..."
